Silence

You know those times that you take on too much, but say 'to heck with it, I can handle everything'?  Well, it is exactly that attitude that got me in the predicament I am in right now.  You see, I thought to myself, 'Self. You need a creative outlet.  How about blogging? OK, done.' and not much later there was 'Coaching! What a great idea... I should do that.' And then came the new job. Oh yeah. And grad school. Did I mention that I am training for a half marathon? Whew.  So you see, there is a reason my lovely blog has been suffering from loneliness lately.

I am going to try to start a post queue so that this here blog doesn't start to hate me.  We'll see how that goes :)

Happy Friday!

Valentines Mushiness

Valentine's is one of those holidays that I always loved even though I never really got to celebrate it.  I will admit that I am a die hard romantic at heart... I love flowers, poems, candlelight, etc.  Pathetic, I know.  But during the Valentine's season I feel like I am allowed, okay?  So here is my favorite poem by ee cummings, it is called "i carry your heart with me":

i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go,my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
i fear
no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

Sweet right? Now all I need is this cute little print...

Jonathan Adler in ATL

Hotlanta is getting a Jonathan Adler store, it is true!  I mean yeah, Neimans carries his stuff, but it just isn't the same.  Buying an item there would be like buying something from Anthropologie at Bloomingdales--you lose some of the experience [and believe me that is not a knock on Bloomies!]

Now, while I do like Jonathan Adler's stuff, I think you definitely have to be careful about what you buy.  Moderation is the key.  I like the sense of humor that he brings to the table, but I feel like too much Adler could be a tiiiiiny bit hokey.  Oh yeah, not to mention that it would probably break the bank!

I have been casually helping a couple guys with putting together their spaces, so here are some items that I really like with a more masculine feel.  Not sure I'd use a ton of the wallpaper, but maybe for an accent wall in a study or mudroom type area :)

The tri-pod lamp has a rustic feel that I really like...
Jonathan Adler Ventana Floor Lamp
I have a little bit of a thing for gold.  Not obnoxious. At least I don't think it's obnoxious... But gold is such a great neutral don't you think?  And who doesn't love a bit of sparkle??

Jonathan Adler  Bird Bowl

And a little furniture would make it a real room!  How about the dresser below?

Quirky

I really wish that I was one of those people that pull off a quirky house.  You know the houses with weird angles and Jonathan Adler accessories everywhere? Not for me.  I'm a tiny bit too traditional for all that, I think.  You know there's a but coming right? A big fat BUT.

I stumbled across some of the items below and can see how they'd be fun in a house.  I even went so far as to imagine a room designed around some of these... crazy, I'm sure.  Just see for yourself!

Stuffed Log Kit from Curiosity Shoppe
Okay, okay. A log pillow? Really?  YES!  How about in kids room that was designed like a treehouse?  Or even in a guy's apartment? [if said male had the proper sense of humor, of course.]

How about another gem from Curiosity Shoppe.... How many people tap their pencils on their face when they're thinking reallllllllly hard?  Me! Me!  Right, so how fun are these things?
I am pretty sure posting about moustache pencils makes me a nerd, but who cares!  If they weren't out of stock, my pencil tin would be getting some new visitors!

I am a sucker for pillows.  And birds lately.  So obviously I would like a bird pillow. Go figure.

I guess there is a lot to be said for the unexpected!

Happy Tuesday

Studs

These are STUDLY :) I wish I was rocker enough to rock them.  I know, I know, that was awful, but I just couldn't resist!

My first etsy order...

I thought it was only fitting that I blog about my first purchase from etsy.com!  I am so excited I can hardly stand it.  I have been looking through High Street Market for a couple weeks now, and have FINALLY decided on what to get.  I know, I know, I am actually kind of impressed I made up my mind!

You'll totally understand when you see what I got though...Are you ready?  Are you sure? OK, here goes...

TA DA!  Uber cute champagne flutes [rhyme unintentional]. I seriously cannot wait to get these in the mail. I have a set of wine glasses given to me by my parents and I think these will go with them QUITE nicely. There is a matching set of wine goblets, but that is a little too matchy-matchy for me.  With as lovely as these little beauties are, I don't think the others will last too long!

Maybe I can host a little soiree and post some pics...now, there's an idea.

Cheers!

Lights!

Any one else a sucker for lighting?  No, not just mood lighting folks (oh lala!), but the everyday kind, too.  I think it makes such a difference in the feel of a room/event.

Candlelight is my absolute favorite and oh so flattering, don't you think?  I also love the fixtures below.  I have to admit that it is lucky I do not have my own place.  If I did, I would have a major lighting dilemma on my hands.

How glamorous is this Design Within Reach table lamp?  I think I would be doing all my reading in a silk robe with some Chanel on if I had this bad boy.  Obviously, I would also need a chaise of some sort to go with it.  And a chic throw...  TROUBLE!

For the ladies on a budget.  Love the table lamp above from Ikea.  I also like that you're no stuck with a shade they provide like with some of their other designs.  10$, and with a nicer shade would look like it cost a pretty penny!
